The Scientists of Lighting at Baja Designs would like to thank all of their sponsored KOH race teams and congratulate Bomber Fabrication’s Randy Slawson for an amazing victory at this year’s 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers race.  A long week of preparation and pre-running culminated in a very exciting race on Friday.  This year’s KOH was witnessed by a record crowd out at Hammertown and an even larger following via the live internet broadcast.  Staying true to its name, King of the Hammers was more relentless and unforgiving than ever before, allowing just 27 finishers out of 129 racers.

Bomber Fabrication’s Randy Slawson had this to say, “We chose to outfit our Bomber Fabrication race car #4448 with two Squadron Wide-Corning lights and one 8″ OnX LED Light bar (with all spot reflectors).  This combination allowed us to tune our suspension well into the night in preparation for our bid at the 2013 King of the Hammers.  End result, on February 8, 2013 we were crowned “King” of the 2013 King of the Hammers. The Scientists of Lighting – at Baja Designs are thrilled to be part of the 2013 King of the Hammers spectacle.  Ultra 4 racing has become well known as one of the toughest race series in the United States and King of the Hammers is the granddaddy of them all.  The scientists of Baja Designs will have a booth setup so everyone can see their lights, including the new OnX LED that provides the distance of an HID with the smoothness of an LED.  BD scientist will also be on hand to help aim your lights and recommend the ultimate lighting setup for your vehicle.  Bluetorch Fabworks owner and racer, Jason Carner says, “We are all really excited for this year’s KOH, and even though we hope we won’t have to use our BD lights for this race, we always know we have the best in the business.”

“The 7th running of the Griffin King of the Hammers Presented by Nitto Tire will be the largest to date with an expanded Vendor show, and additional entertainment. Again the event will take place during the second week of February and the main event will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013.”

The General Tire “Vegas to Reno” race will be August 15, 16, 17, with race day on Friday, August 17th!  The reason it’s a Friday race is because the race goes into Saturday and the finish line is open until approximately 10 am on Saturday.  Also, we like you to have a day to stay and play in Reno and drive home on Sunday!  There is currently a general information sheet in the race file and a mileage chart, all other race documents will be posted on July 25.  The entry forms are posted in the race file and are due July 25th, the day of the draw, and that is the day the FIP (Final Information Packet) will be sent, which includes the pit book, map, schedule of events and rules.  July 25th is also the deadline to get your name, teammates and sponsors in the Souvenir Event Program.  Contact Russ Turner at russt@fallads.com  to buy an Ad or profile page in the program.

Kevin Sacalas and co-driver Bryan Grigsby of Big Ugly Racing thankfully both walked away from this amazing 96 MPH crash with only minor injuries. The same cannot be said for the car . . . We can also share that the two Baja Designs Stealth LED Bars still function great and escaped the crash with only a few cosmetic injuries. We wish the Big Ugly Racing team a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them on the course soon.
