Team Enlightened Sweeps the Mint 400

Baja Designs’ Team Enlightened takes the overall and first in class in all five of the unlimited classes at the Mint 400. When lighting performance really counts, top racers choose Baja Designs lighting to get them to the podium.

At the Mint 400, the unlimited vehicles start in the afternoon, and the 400 mile race runs until well after dark. This year, every one of the unlimited classes was won by racers using Baja Designs lights.

Class 1400 – Trophy Truck – Bryce Menzies – 1st overall and first Trophy Truck

Class 1500 – Class 1 Unlimited Buggy – Chuck Hovey – 1st in Class

Class 1000 – Class 10 Buggy (Unlimited Suspension-Spec Motor Buggy) – Chip Prescott – 1st in Class

Class 6100 – Spec Trophy Truck (Unlimited Suspension-Spec Motor Truck) – Jason Ruane – 1st in Class

Class 7200 – 6 cyl Unlimited Truck (Max Track Width- 85”) – Al Hogan – 1st in Class

The Mint 400 has long been known as one of the toughest desert races in the US. The brutal 100-mile Mint 400 loop course was devastating this year. Of the 255 starters, only 132 finished within the time limit-making the attrition at 48%, the toughest in recent Mint 400 history.

Join BD at the 2013 King of the Hammers

The Scientists of Lighting – at Baja Designs are thrilled to be part of the 2013 King of the Hammers spectacle. Ultra 4 racing has become well known as one of the toughest race series in the United States and King of the Hammers is the granddaddy of them all. The scientists of Baja Designs will have a booth setup so everyone can see their lights, including the new OnX LED that provides the distance of an HID with the smoothness of an LED. BD scientist will also be on hand to help aim your lights and recommend the ultimate lighting setup for your vehicle. Bluetorch Fabworks owner and racer, Jason Carner says, “We are all really excited for this year’s KOH, and even though we hope we won’t have to use our BD lights for this race, we always know we have the best in the business.”

“The 7th running of the Griffin King of the Hammers Presented by Nitto Tire will be the largest to date with an expanded Vendor show, and additional entertainment. Look for some exciting changes to the race course as well as improved spectator areas. Again the event will take place during the second week of February and the main event will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013.”
